Rahul Murthy | Team Spikeball
College Station, Texas
I was born in India and lived there until I was about 7 years old, and then moved to Texas. I started playing roundnet in my senior year of high school because everyone on my tennis team was sick of tennis, so we found something different and new to do. It wasn’t until my sophomore year of college that I saw roundnet again, and that’s when I started playing competitively.
I love Spikeball because of the awesome community and amazing competition that comes with it. It's also just an insanely fun game to play.
Signature roundnet move?
Definitely calling high. I get real low, and as soon as I see that ball cut me wide, I call high and go to observers. Don’t wanna work harder than I need to, you know?
What's one thing everyone should experience in your city?
College station is a college town in the middle of nowhere, so there is not much to do, but I love going to Dallas or Austin and experiencing what those places have to offer. For example, we went to the Austin Public Library during a Team Spikeball event, and it was the craziest library I have ever been in by far.
Fav song on repeat?
